The 4 Daughters
There once was a woman who lived with her 4 daughters who owned a beautiful condo next to the beach. The woman knew she could not keep the condo forever and must give it to one of her daughters , but which one?
The mother soon came up with an idea. She told the daughters,” go out and find a good job, when you come back whoever has gotten a job that could help pay for the house will keep it.”
The daughters decided not to argue and left to find a job, the oldest got a job as a lawyer, the second became a doctor, the third joined the navy, and the last became an engineer.
They were all very content with what job they had found and became very good at their jobs, the oldest won many cases and was favored by many. The doctor became chief of surgery and saved many lives she thought, “for sure I will get the house, mother will be very proud.”
The daughter in the navy protected and served for the country and thought for sure mother would give her the house. The engineer fixed many things and helped many people. Finally the time came, they would present themselves to their mother. Each one thought on how they would show mother they are the best suited for the condo.
Out of no where a man came running up and told the mother " This woman right here saved me and won the case, she is an outstanding woman."
The mother was very pleased to here that. Soon after that the man that ran up to them passed out running back, but the doctor was soon at his side his side saved him. " You have done well daughter, you have saved that mans life."
The engineer decided to show off her skills by fixing the plumbing problems in the house. Finally it was the last daughters turn she told her mother, " Mother i can not show my skills, but I do serve for this country and protect it."
Finally, the mother came to a decision and gave it to the daughter in the navy, but all the daughters decided that it would be better to share the house and live together so that is what they did.
Moral: You can always share. There is no need to fight.

In the story “ A Dark Brown Dog”by Stephen Crane, the author choose to narrate the story in third person. By doing this we learned the emotions of all characters and how the main characters, the boy and the dog, felt about one another. Cranes tone in the story is a dark humorous way, he finds humour in unlikely situations or things that are just unusual.” He swung him two or three times hilariously about his head, and then flung him with great accuracy through the window” normally a drunk father wouldn't abuse a pet in such ways that this father was described to do but, it still has a humorous tone and at the same time is kind of serious. The way the author tells the story makes me feel kinda shocked and kind of ashamed of the way the father and the son treated this poor dog and abused him.
In the story “ The Day I Got Lost” by Isaac Bashevis Singer, Its is told in first person by Shlemiel. You can tell this because he says “ I carry an overstuffed briefcase, and I’m forever making mistakes”. The text is written in a humorous way of showing that Shlemiel is a clumsy, forgetful, silly guy. They show that he is just a guy that lost his way around in a goofy tone “ I am what is known as an absentminded professor”. This story makes you feel kind of joyful when you read it, it makes you crack a smile.

In the poem "The Names" by Billy Collins the author is trying to remember the ones lost on that day by saying the names of "everyone", but seeing them places as if he were taking a walk. "names blown over the earth and out the sea" when the author wrote this his tone seemed depressed and melancholy he says "yesterday i lay awake in the palm of the night."
